A Domestic Abuse Primer
Abuse can happen in any relationship, often hidden behind closed doors. What can you say to someone who is stuck in an abusive situation? The reality is you know someone. 1 in 3 women have been on the receiving end of abusive behavior.
This course offers a unique collaboration between pastoral care and professional counseling. It is led by Pastor Frank Italiano, a pastor with experience working with abuse victims, and Teri Scharpen, a Christian Family Solutions counselor knowledgeable in abuse dynamics.
The Domestic Abuse Primer is designed to help you understand the dynamics of abuse, recognize its devastating effects, and learn how to provide meaningful support to those experiencing it. You’ll learn how to respond with empathy, and support victims while prioritizing their safety and well-being.
