An Introduction to Trauma and its Impact
Our brains are wired for connection – that’s how God intended them to be. In this course on trauma, Dr. Ashley Schoof, Senior Clinical Director, teaches about the intricacies of how our brains are designed and what happens when trauma is present and our brains are not connecting as they should. She’ll also teach proven strategies you can use to help children heal after encountering adverse experiences.
There are seven modules available for you to explore. The course is self-guided, so you’re welcome to work through these at your own pace as your schedule allows.
After first delving into the intricate workings of the brain, we’ll explore how trauma influences behavior and disrupts healthy brain connections and development. From there, we’ll equip you with strategies for supporting and helping children impacted by trauma. The framework for this course are the evidence-based practices for trauma treatment used in the STRONG Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Program at Christian Family Solutions.
Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, mental health professional, or simply someone seeking to deepen your understanding of trauma, we hope this course offers you new knowledge and effective strategies to foster healing and growth.
